Agent Responsibilities

Southern Academy of Higher Education and its education agents are subject to the requirements of the ESOS Act and related laws.

The Academy pays education agents and representatives a fee for the services they provide to student applicants, in addition to any fee paid by the student to the education agent.

National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018

Compliance Requirements: 
Education agents must comply with the obligations outlined in the National Code when providing services to international students. You should be knowledgeable about the courses, institutions, and application processes you represent.

Accurate Information: 
Agents must provide accurate and up-to-date information to students about courses, institutions, fees, and entry requirements. 
 
Professional Conduct: 
Agents should act ethically, honestly, and professionally in all interactions with students and institutions. You must avoid making false or misleading statements to students. 
 
Conflict of Interest: 
Agents must declare any potential conflicts of interest that could affect their recommendations to students. 
 
Protection of Student Rights: 
Agents should uphold the rights of international students, including their right to privacy and their right to make informed decisions. 

Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) 2021

Standard 7.3 – Marketing and Recruitment of Students: 
SAHE must ensure that any education agents they engage adhere to ethical practices in marketing and recruitment. SAHE is responsible for monitoring and ensuring that agents provide accurate and transparent information to prospective students. 

Standard 7.4 – Education Agents: 
If SAHE engage education agents, agents must have agreements that outline the roles, responsibilities, and obligations of both parties. SAHE must also provide appropriate training to agents about the institution’s courses, policies, and support services.
